New Orleans Trip - Part 1: Ethel

For those of you that don't know her, this is Ethel. Ethel is actually my mom's ex-husband's aunt, but mom says that she got Ethel in the divorce. Ethel kept me and my brother when we were young and still living in New Orleans (and countless other children before us). After we moved to Birmingham, Ely and I would go and stay with Ethel during school breaks and the summer. Ethel would also come visit us a lot. We had so much fun at Ethel's house and will always remember those memories.

So, last week, Jenni, Eamon and I went to New Orleans. On the way there we stopped to see Ethel, who is living in Picayune with her niece. Ethel is 97 and she looks great!

Ethel loves children and Eamon was no exception!

Ethel and EamonJenni and EthelEamon wanted to push Ethel.Eamon enjoyed looking at the horses or "nays" as he calls them. Ethel's niece Sharron has two horses that live in the pasture behind the house.

We also stopped to visit Ethel's sister, Edith. And this is the house that we all have so many memories in. Ethel's grandfather built this house when Ethel was 2 or 4, I can't remember, so the house is either 95 or 93 years old. It is currently under contract, so I felt the need to take a picture before it is sold.
Thanks for all the memories, 15 Metairie Court.

Blueberry Picking with Aunt Jen

We met up with Aunt Jen this afternoon and went Blueberry picking.

When we got there Eamon found this gate and went to it and started saying 'mooo."
He was looking for cows, but there were none there.
I am amazed that he knows to look for cows on a farm.

He wasn't too interested in the blueberries at first.

Then he figured out what Aunt Jen was putting in the buckets.YUM!!

He really enjoyed climbing on the gates.

Aunt Jen helping Eamon pick some blueberries.

We took a little break to go check out the farm animals.
Eamon saw some chickens and started bucking and flapping his wings.Aunt Jen helped him pet the sheep or "baas".
There was a donkey that Eamon really wanted to pet (he called it a nay for horse) but the donkey wasn't too excited about Eamon.

Thanks Aunt Jen for a fun afternoon. We had a great time!

18 Month Check-Up

Eamon had his 18 month check-up today.

He is 35" or 2' 11" and is off the charts for height. The Dr said if he keeps up this growth, he'll b e over 6' tall.

He weighs 26 lbs 4 oz and is in the 50th percentile for weight.

We doesn't have to go back to the dr until he is 2 years old and no more vaccinations until he is 5!

Water Fun

Our friend Kris invited us to a pool party with the Moms group from church. Eamon really enjoyed playing in the fountains with his friend Sydney. Sydney is 4 months younger than Eamon.

We got together at my moms house on the 4th to celebrate Independence day and mine and Jenni's birthdays.
