2 Week Check-Up

We went for Eamon's 2 week check-up today. He now weights 10 lbs and is 21.5 inches long.
Refresher on Eamon's weight:
Birth, Friday, Jan 11 - 9lbs, 7oz
Monday, Jan 14 - 8lbs, 7 oz
Wed, Jan 16 - 8lbs, 13 oz
Fri, Jan 25 - 10 lbs
Eamon's Pediatrician said that babies should gain about an ounce a day, and we were gone from the doctor for 9 days and Eamon gained 20 oz. He is eating just fine!
After the pediatrician we went to visit MamaMarie at work and then came home and watched a movie and napped. I think Eamon is ready to eat again! He is an eating, peeing and pooping machine!

Eamon's first photo shoot

Auntie Rae came last Friday (when Eamon was 1 week old) to take some pictures of him. Eamon was not at all interested in cooperating. On Thursday he had slept the entire day, but Friday he wanted to be awake and did not want to participate. He also doesn't do too well without a diaper on. First of all he really likes to be clothed. And second, he pees and poops a lot, and he did just that on me and Rachel and the sheet he was laying on.

Eamon's First Bath

So, on the coldest night of Eamon's life, we decided to give him a bath. We decided to do it at MamaMarie's house so we could have someone take pictures. We woke Eamon from a nice nap to strip him down in the kitchen and bathe him. We did have a small heater pointed at him so hopefully he wasn't too cold. By the end he wasn't too happy, but quickly calmed down and was ready for a snack.

Nick watching on with delight.

Finally a picture with MamaMarie

More Baby Eamon

Baby Eamon watching the snow coming down.

Isn't his little butt so cute when he is laying like this?

And now what you've been waiting for...Baby Eamon Pictures!

Eamon's first trip to MamaMarie's House

Eamon in his car seat at MamaMarie's house with his snowman outfit on. Ironically, it was sleeting and snowing outside that day. We are supposed to get some snow here tomorrow. Ed went out and got a bunch of firewood today just in case we need it.

Daddy & Eamon

As you can tell by looking at these pictures, Ed is just in love with Eamon!

These last two pictures I just took tonight (Friday) while Ed and Eamon were having some "Walsh Man" time watching TV. Although I think they spent more time looking at each other.

Ed has been absolutely WONDERFUL since we got home from the hospital. For the first few nights he slept out on the couch while I slept in the bedroom, then when Eamon would wake up, he would change him and then come get me. Last night Eamon slept in our room in the cradle, and when he woke up, Ed would go change him while I got situated in the big chair to feed him. Eamon and I aren't good enough at breastfeeding to do it laying in bed. Maybe soon though.

Ed has also had to pick up a lot of slack around the house, things that I'm not able to do right now. I'm feeling pretty good, but when I do too much I start to hurt, so I have to try to take it easy and nap when I can. When MamaMarie isn't here Ed is doing laundry, dishes, picking up and then finishing some of the projects he had going on. We still have a few more things we need to get done in Eamon's room and a few other projects, that hopefully will get done soon.

Ed is off from work until the beginning of February.

Going home from the hospital

Eamon wasn't too happy to be getting clothes on for the ride home.

Much happier now!
Mommy & Eamon are ready!
Daddy is ready for something!

Daddy's first time changing Eamon's Diaper

This was the first time Ed had to change Eamon's diaper, and it was a merconium diaper (equivilant to black tar) Since then, Ed has changed many, many more diapers.

We are getting much better at changing him, although he is making it harder and harder. We have to watch out for him peeing when we take his diaper off, and we have had to change the changing pad cover several times because he's gotten poop or pee on it. The most fun is when he starts pooping when his diaper is off.
