37 Weeks - Only 3 weeks to go!

Well, it was a busy weekend around the Walsh house! The baby's room is painted and his floor is finished. We were even able to put in some of his furniture. Ed painted his dresser and it turned out really nice - we are still waiting on hardware for the dresser though. We also realized that we need to paint the changing table and the rocking chair. We really didn't know how much furniture would fit in there until we started putting it in. I just went to find the digital camera to take some pictures to post, but of course, I can't find the camera. So, when I find it, I promise some pictures!!!

I'm pretty sure we have all the "baby gear" we need right now. We still have to get the stroller and the glider, which we will probably do sometime this week.

We have another doctor's appointment on Wednesday (we go every week now) and we also have an ultrasound. He has been measuring big, so they want to get a look to see how big he actually is.

I've been feeling pretty good, exhausted, but good. Mom and Ed tell me that I have been huffing and puffing, but what can you expect when a probably 6 lb baby is pushing up against your lungs. And with my pulse still up in the 120's all day long, I get exhausted doing anything. By the time we get in the check-out line at the grocery store I'm asking for the keys to go sit in the car.

Happy New Year!!!

36 Weeks - 4 Weeks to go!

I went to the Dr this week and Eamon is still measuring big, so we have an ultrasound scheduled for January 2nd to get an estimate of his size. Otherwise everything with him is good. He is moving around a lot, he still likes to lodge himself up underneath my ribs. My pulse is still high, but it seems it will be that way until he is delivered.

We finished the last of our baby classes last night. We went to a series of 5 childbirth classes which included what to expect during labor and delivery, to postpartum care, to baby care, and my favorite part...ANISTHESIA!!! We also attended a Breastfeeding class and a Breathing & Relaxation class. Mom and I went to "Happiest Baby on the Block" class. So we should be al prepared for him now!

Update on the house - (and I'll try to post some pictures when we get the home computer set back up) Ed is still working on getting the floors down, there isn't much left. Then he is going to paint the baby's room. We originally thought we were going to go with a yellow, but the new floors have so much yellow in them that we decided to go with "Sherwood Tan" from Benjamin Moore.

That's all for now.

Week 33

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, so much has been going on. Ed found a great deal on wood laminate floors and bought enough to do the entire house. So he has been working on that. We had some great help this past weekend and got a bunch of it done, but there is still a good bit left to do. I'm hoping Ed can get it done in the next couple of weeks, the house is such a mess!

On a separate note, my pulse has been racing off and on the last week or so. I talked to my Dr. about it last week and she said if it stayed in the 120's for over an hour to call. So Saturday it was up and down and after I had been resting for a while, I noticed it was still high, so we called the Dr. and they said I should go into the Maternity Evaluation Unit (MEU) - kind of like an ER for pregnant women. So after several hours there, they decided that it was probably the Sudafed in my allergy medicine and I should stop taking that, but that the baby is fine. So I did. I noticed it was up most of the day Sunday and when I went to work on Monday it was up again. So I called the Drs office and went to the MEU again. They did all sorts of tests, chest X-ray, tested my thyroid levels, gave me several bags of IV fluids, checked the baby, and everything was fine. They said it is probably just caused by the high projesterone levels, but they wanted to rule out other more serious things.

So baby is fine, and I'll be fine!

31 Weeks - Going home outfit and blanket

Here is the going home blanket and gown that mom made for the baby. She has been working for a while to get these done. She plans to put his name and Birthday on the blanket too.
By the way, he has a name now. His name will be Eamon Richard Walsh.
He has been very active this week, and has found a favorite position on my right side, right underneath my ribs, which can be quite uncomfortable at times.
We started our Childbirth classes this past week, so hopefully we'll learn some stuff about what's going to soon happen.
Ed's off tomorrow and Sunday, so we are hoping to get some things done tomorrow in preparation for his arrival. I want to help do things before I get too big.

29 Weeks

I had a Doctors appointment on Thursday. The Dr. measured my stomach and said that I am measuring a little big. She said that if I continue to measure big that they will do another ultrasound to see exalty how big the baby is, that they don't want him to get too big. So, what that tells me is that he may come early.

Ed has been very productive this week! He installed a fan in the baby's room, installed a new dishwasher, fixed the washing machine and installed some extra shelves and storage racks in some of the closets!

Have a great week!

28 Weeks (only 12 weeks left)

So I am getting bigger and realizing now that it is getting harder to do things. I realized this at the grocery store the other day when I was trying to get around the basket. Luckily Ed has been very helpful.

He has gotten motivated and has been working around the house to get things in shape. He is installing some additional shelves in some closets so we can put more things away. He installed the dead bolt on the back door. He is at Lowe's again right now getting some stuff he needs to get some of the projects done. He's also been cleaning out the garage, which seems to be a never-ending chore. He's also searching for a good deal on a new dishwasher. Yes, ours still works, but it doesn't seem to get all the food off of the dishes, something I think a good dishwasher should do. All the stuff that needs to get done in the baby's room is on hold until we get some new flooring down in there, (we are also looking for a good deal on wood laminate flooring) We want to eventually put it in all the bedrooms and the living room, but have decided to start with his room.

I'm trying to get this semester finished up. I have one test and two papers to write, plus a small presentation and I should be done before Thanksgiving. I'm still debating on if I'm going to take classes next semester or just take a break.

Well that's all the rambling for now, I don't have any pictures to post. Perhaps if I find some I'll post them.

Week 27

This is what babycenter.com has to say about 27 week babies. "This week he weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He now sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were born prematurely." Also, around this time his eyes will begin opening and closing - They have been fused shut up until this point.

Ed and I are realizing that we only have 13 weeks to get ready for him - actually less if he comes early. Our goal is to try to have everything ready for him by the end of the year. So we have to get in gear and get things done. Ed is finally finished painting at night at the Disney Store, so hopefully he'll be more productive now when he is at home. Some people have requested a picture of the pregnant belly. We'll see - it may come soon.

Week 26

Nothing too exiting this week. Ed and I went and registered at Target and Babies-R-Us. Wow, that was so confusing. Who knew there were so many choices? And do you need a bottle warmer and a baby wipe warmer? Who knows, certainly not me. I guess we'll figure all that out when he comes.
Babycenter.com says the baby is about 2 lbs right now and he's about 14 inches from head to heal. And if you are intersted it also says that his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum, a trip that will take about two to three days.
Have a great week!

25 Weeks - Ultrasound

Here are the pictures from the ultrasound we had on Thursday. They were able to get a good look at his heart and everything looks good. They said that he is in the 76th percentile. Meaning that of all the babies at the same gestastional age as him, he is bigger than 76% of them. If you look back at the pictures from the 20 week ultrasound, you can see that he has really filled out.

I believe this is a picture of his face

Confirming once again that it's a boy!
And a foot.
His face again.

In the ultrasound they could see that his feet were down by my bladder on the left side and that his head is right below my right breast. I think I've been feeling him kicking my bladder - very strange feeling.

BabyCenter.com says he's:
about 13 1/2 " long
weighs about a pound and a half.
Although he's probably bigger than that!!!
Oh, and apparently my uterus is the size of a soccer ball!

At our appointment on Thursday I also had my glucose test.
I'm sure everything will be fine!

On another note, Ed has been working very hard lately! Besides the fire department, he has been painting the Disney Store at night, so he has been so exhausted lately. Hopefully they only have a few more nights of that. If he does it much longer he's going to get sick.

And, for those of you that don't know, I'm in school right now, working on a masters degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I just got my first test back in my Introduction to the Exceptional Learner and I got the highest grade in my class! GO ME!!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Baby Bedding (22 weeks)

Today while watching my Auburn Tigers lose again, I decided to go ahead and buy the baby's bedding set. Here it is below. After the game, mom and I went to a big baby clothes sale where the clothes were 50-75% off, we got him some really cute clothes!

Update on the baby:
He is 22 weeks today
10.9 inches long
about 1 lb

Ultrasound - 20 Weeks

We had an ultrasound on Wednesday at 20 weeks, it is the "anatomy" ultrasound, where they take a look and make sure all of the baby's body parts are there and are working good. They looked at his brain and took some measurements, we saw his kidneys, bladder, hands, feet, legs, arms, head, body - oh yah - and his PENIS!!!. So that confirms it, it's a boy!! Ed, of course, was glowing the rest of the time there. Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. The first ones are 4D - they were using this "transucer" to get some images of the chambers of his heart, of course, he wouldn't cooperate and roll over, no matter how many times the lady poked at my stomach. So, we go back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound. But they said everything looks good, he's developing on schedule!

Here you can see his face and his arm.
Another one of his face, arm & hand.

This is one of his legs and you can see his feet are crossed.

Another one of his head and arm.

This is the picture that confirms he's a boy.

The picture is taken from the bottom up, so you can see his thighs and in the middle is his boy-parts.

Here is a foot!
And an arm and a hand
The large circle to the left is his body, the small circle is a hand, and then to the right is his face, he is laying on his side.
Another one of his face (looks kind of freaky)
So, my book tells me that at 20 weeks he is 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 inches from "Crown to Rump" and BabyCenter.com says he is 10" from "head to heel", and weighs about 9- 10 1/2 ounces. (depending on which book/Internet site you read)
As of tomorrow, he will be at 21 weeks, so here is the info for 21 weeks:
Weight: about 10 1/2 oz
Length: 7 1/4" from Crown to Rump
Apparently he is about the size of a large banana.
