2 Years, 11 Months, 6 Days, 1 hour and 30 minutes

That's how long it took to make our first ER trip with Eamon.

Yesterday while Eamon and I were wrapping Christmas presents, he lost interest and decided to push around the lid to the wrapping paper storage container.  He then thought it would be a good idea to stand on it, which led to the collision of his head and his wooden chair.  Blood was everywhere and we were headed to the Chi!dren's Hospit@l ER.

It stopped bleeding and I was able to clean him up some before we got in the car and he had calmed down some, but then he wanted Daddy and started crying again.

He kept messing with in the car, so when we got to Daddy it looked like this and he had fallen asleep.

We got to the ER and they Valet parked our car so we were both able to go in with him.  We only sat in the waiting room a few minutes until we were called back.

The admitting nurse put a numbing gel on his forehead and secured it on with a clear adhesive bandage.  The numbing gel takes 30 minutes to work.  It is used instead of any injections.

I grabbed the DVD player as we were walking out the door, so Eamon enjoyed watching Cars while waiting for the doctor.

They strapped him to a papoose board so he wouldn't move around while they did the stitches.  The doctor said that kids usually scream and cry when they are strapped to the board, but Eamon did great!  Not one cry.  He was happy and kept talking to us.

Three stitches later and we were on our way home.

The doctors and nurses were great with Eamon.  They spoke to him and explained everything to him.  We were in and out of the ER in under 2 hours.

Eamon was so brave, no crying, so whining.  He amazed us all.

MamaMarie came to the hospital to help us watch Brady.  Of course, Brady decided to wake up just when the doctor started stitching Eamon up.

Grand adventures...hope you don't have anymore! Sounds like it went pretty well though.

I remember getting stitches when I was about four. Scary! I still have a teeny scar near the corner of my eyebrow; think the cut was bigger though. Wish we would have had numbing gel in 1984! Glad Eamon was OK and such a good patient. Must have been scary for you to see him hurt like that.

Poor little guy! He's going to think wrapping presents is dangerous. The gel stuff is great but I have to say it looks kind of scary.
