Uncle Ely's Going Away Weekend

Uncle Ely accepted an IT job with the foreign services.  We had a few family get togethers the week before he left for D.C. for training.  We started out hanging out at Ely's house on Saturday afternoon.

Emily decided that she and Brady were married.  Brady was not too thrilled about this.

Sunday we went to Aunt Jen's house for brunch and some playing in the backyard.
Brady conquered his fear of dogs with Nick's dog George.

We stayed there so long we were getting hungry and smelling Dreamland, so the men made a trip to pick some up.

Summer Baseball

We weren't planning to play a sport during the summer, but since we didn't have the best experience with baseball in the spring (very competitive, didn't let the kids try out different positions) we decided to play again during the summer through the Y.  Eamon was on the Cubs team.  It was a great experience.  The kids all got to bat, they did get out, but the outs didn't count.  They didn't keep score either, AND the coach moved the kids around and let them try out different positions.  Eamon did great!  He played every position at one time during the season.  I think he did best at Catcher - he had to pay attention.

Eamon's First Day of Kindergarten - Monday, August 19, 2013

Eamon started Kindergarten this week.  It was a bittersweet moment.  I will miss having him home with us, miss our game time during the little ones naps, but I know he is going to have so much fun and learn so much,  The boys love each other so much, but they constantly fight and wrestle when they are together, so this will be a nice break for me.

We started the morning with a sprinkle pancake breakfast - that's how we begin special days at the Walsh house.  Brady requested chocolate chip pancakes, and that request was granted, although he just ate the chocolate chips and tossed the pancakes onto Eamon's plate.

We all went together to take Eamon to school.  Ed and the little ones stayed in the car while I went inside.  I walked him to his classroom.  He gave me lots of hugs and I left - both of us dry-eyed.

The little ones and I met him at the bus stop.

He said he had a good first day.  I could tell he was exhausted.  We get bits and pieces of information out of him each day.

And now..  an interview with Eamon the day before Kindergarten:

Elsie Girl at 5 Months

Elsie is such a happy little girl.  She started sitting up about a week before she turned 5 months, and is still quite wobbly at 5 months.  She loves to watch her brothers play and they make her smile and laugh like no one else can.  She is still a Mama's girl, but that's because she is with me all the time.  As you can see, her eyes are still blue like Eamon's.  She started liking her passy, which she never really took until now

Elsie's 4 Month Check-Up (at 5 Months)

I fell a little behind and Elsie went in for her 4 month check-up at nearly 5 months...oops.

Length - 25"
Weight - 14lbs, 15 ox
Head Circumference - 16"

She is in the 50th percentile for length and weight.

She received 4 shots and an oral vaccine.

Before the shots they brought her some Tylenol - which she hated!  She cried a bit after the shots but calmed down quickly.  The next morning she spiked a low fever, but was fine otherwise.

Happy 4th of July

Not wanting to deal with the traffic of getting downtown to see the big fireworks, we decided to stay home and set some off in front of the house.  It was a nasty rainy day, but there was enough of a break in the rain to shoot off the fireworks.

Although after this experience, I think that the hassle with the traffic would be much better than the fireworks shooting towards us (our neighbor had a stray firework that came a few feet from Brady and there were some that Daddy shot that did not go the intended direction.)
